Recent changes at the construction site – we welcome a new team that will support the existing employees of Cocco Lagoon in Pemba. A total of over 100 people work on our construction site every day to complete the construction planned in the first stage by the first quarter of 2025!
Zanzibar’s government, alongside various partners, has kicked off an impressive campaign to plant fruit trees. According to Hamza Hassan Juma, the Acting Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, Natural Resources, and Livestock, a total of 6,454 trees were planted in 2023 as part of this effort.
Minister Hamza also disclosed that the government is actively pursuing a decade-long program aimed at replenishing greenery by introducing a variety of tree species, including native ones.
Acknowledging the grave issue of fruit trees being indiscriminately chopped down for furniture and urban expansion, Minister Hamza assured that the government is committed to intensifying patrols and enforcing measures to curb environmental degradation across the nation.
Responding to concerns raised by Mwanakwerekwe Representative Ameir Abdalla Ameir regarding the rampant cutting of fruit trees, Minister Hamza emphasized the severity of the problem. He warned that if left unaddressed, Zanzibar could soon face a dire shortage of fruits for local consumption.
Encouraging islanders to refrain from unnecessary tree felling, Minister Hamza urged them to embrace the practice of planting fruit and forest trees for both personal use and the well-being of the environment.

Zanzibar Domino Tower, a new megaproject on the island of Zanzibar, promises to bring a new dimension of luxury and innovation to East Africa. Located on a man-made island spanning 3,982,646 square feet, connected by a bridge to the west coast of Zanzibar, this project has the potential to become the second tallest building in Africa and the largest hotel in the region.

The tower will also feature 560 residential units and 5 and 6-star hotel and spa facilities.

🏢 Apartament Block A: The second floor is officialy DONE! Once again, the team has completed the blockworks for the penthouse. Currently, the blockworks for Apartment A are nearly 95% complete. In the upcoming week, work will continue on the final top slab of the penthouse. The aim is to achieve 100% completion of the main structure for Apartment A by the end of this month.
🏠 Nakupenda 02: For the past two weeks, our conctruction team focused on the completion of main structure of Nakupenda 02 and some othet finishing work – especially the plaster works! As for now the structure of Nakupenda 02 is completed 100% and we’re just started the painting job!
We’re hoping to hand over the building by the end of March!
🚧 Roads:
This is a big one! We’ve stared working on the road infrastructure in Cocco Lagoon! Our machine and trucks are working collectively to move 1500 ton of earthfill! We expect by the end of this week to finish the mobilisation.
Next week plan is to work on roadworks (site based) by making the road levelled, compaction and incorporating some other services along the road.

Another set of Cocco Lagoon buildings is emerging before our eyes! The investment project is progressing, and we want you to witness all the changes.
The first completed structures are already standing, including the Nakupenda Bungalow, fully prepared to welcome the first guests on Pemba.
The focal point of the Cocco Lagoon investment, the Blue Lagoon apartments, is in the midst of significant activity. The plan envisions the creation of 10 apartment buildings within the hotel complex, where most of the work is currently taking place.
Our apartments are taking shape – additional floors are being constructed, and the end of Block A is slowly becoming visible! As you can see, most of the construction is nearly complete. Soon, we will unveil the entire building in all its glory. Even now, you can imagine how splendid the whole complex will look by exploring the finished visualizations in the “Residences” section.
